1. About Janmat

Janmat ("we", "our", or "us") is a civic-opinion platform that enables Indian citizens to vote on public-interest questions and engage with national discourse. The platform is operated by Janmat Technologies Private Limited, incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, India.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information about you when you use the Janmat mobile application (Android) and our website at janmat.in (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use and delete your account.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data described above for the following purposes:

We do not use your data for advertising profiling, targeted advertising, or selling individual-level data to third parties. Ripple rewards are the only commercial mechanism we use to incentivise participation.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

4.1 Service providers

We share data with the following sub-processors acting as data processors on our behalf:

All sub-processors are contractually bound to process data only on our instructions and to maintain appropriate security standards.

4.2 Aggregate data

We may publish or share fully anonymised, aggregate-level opinion data with media organisations, academic researchers, or government bodies. No individual's answers or identity can be derived from this data.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user data may be transferred to the successor entity. We will notify users via in-app notice at least 30 days before such a transfer.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the asia-south1 (Mumbai) region, ensuring that data remains within India in compliance with applicable data localisation requirements.

No system is 100% secure. If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@janmat.ai.

6. Data Retention

6.1 Active accounts

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a period of 90 days after account deletion to support account recovery and fraud investigation.

6.2 Account deletion

When you delete your account (via Settings in the app or the deletion page), the following happens immediately:

The retained anonymous record cannot be used to identify you and is kept solely to prevent re-registration abuse and to maintain the integrity of referral accounting.

6.3 Aggregate data

Anonymised, aggregated statistical data derived from your responses is not subject to deletion and may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, you have the following rights:

We will respond to verified requests within 30 days. Identity verification (via OTP to your registered phone number) is required for access and erasure requests.

8. Children's Privacy

Janmat is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from persons under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. If you disagree with any change, you may delete your account before the effective date.
